Indigenous business owners can register as an Indigenous corporation through the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). Indigenous corporations are eligible for additional benefits.

An Indigenous-controlled group may become incorporated to:

  • support the education and housing needs of First Nations people
  • secure land
  • seek greater recognition for First Nations people
  • provide legal assistance to First Nations people
  • develop First Nations infrastructure
  • promote art, performance or music.
