Quarantine controls on exports

Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) regulates the export of food, live animals, animal products, fish, aquatic products, plants and grains. Export facilitation officers and export food inspectors can advise you about Australia’s export regulations and importing requirements.

Find out about the quarantine controls that apply to your exports by searching either the AQIS Animal Export Conditions (ANIMEX) or Plant and Plant Products Export Conditions (PHYTO) databases.

If you intend to export meat, dairy, fish, horticulture, grain, wool, skin or hide products, you need to register as an exporter with the AQIS EXport DOCumentation (EXDOC) system.

What to do...

  • Read about AQIS quarantine controls in Exporting goods from Australia
  • Search the AQIS ANIMEX or PHYTO databases to see if your goods fall under special quarantine requirements.
  • Visit the EXDOC page to find out more about your registration obligations.
  • Contact AQIS for more information on 1800 020 504.
