Each year Clean Up Australia Day calls on Aussies to come together to improve and conserve our environment, eliminate litter and end waste.

In 2023, more than 1 million volunteers across 17,000 sites took part. They cleared a huge amount of litter from beaches, parks, school grounds roadways and more – the most common type of litter cleared was soft plastic, followed by cigarette butts and single-use plastic bottles.

Businesses, organisations and community groups are encouraged to register and take part in Clean Up Australia Day in 2024.

How you can get involved

  • Register a clean-up event to align with Business Clean Up Day on 27 February or Clean Up Australia Day on 3 March. Clean Up Australia Day has a litter hotspot list to help you focus your efforts.
  • Get your team together for a clean-up event at any time of the year. A clean-up kit, along with digital resources and guides, will be provided to create a great team-building activity.
  • Work towards reducing waste in your business by reviewing your environmental management. You can make small changes to your everyday processes that will make a big difference.
