DefendTex is an Australian owned and operated defence technology company specialising in small arms development using new fabrication techniques to facilitate the rapid testing and manufacturing of new designs.

The $2 million contract will support DefendTex to develop rocket-propelled grenade technology for the Australian Defence Force.

The Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Melissa Price MP, and Senator David Van made the announcement while visiting the DefendTex headquarters in Melbourne to tour the facility and learn more about the work DefendTex is doing with Defence.

“Small business is the backbone of the Australian economy and the Defence Innovation Hub is just one avenue for these businesses to succeed in our defence industry,” Minister Reynolds said.

Senator Van said DefendTex represented another outstanding success for a Victorian defence business, and highlighted the developing strength of Australia’s sovereign capability.

The Defence Innovation Hub is part of the Government’s $1.6 billion commitment to developing Defence capability through growing Australia’s defence industry and innovation sectors.
