Winning innovation contracts


One new Defence Innovation Hub (DIH) project, valued at $3.1 million, involves the development of a space tactical sensor system by South Australian company DEWC Systems. Under this contract, DEWC will develop a prototype of its system, which will be fitted with a range of sensors and monitoring equipment to be integrated into CubeSats.

The other technologies being developed under this tranche of Innovation Hub investments include:

  • cutting edge radar systems
  • unmanned aerial systems
  • protective equipment
  • advanced diagnostic testing
  • ground breaking research into human/robot interactions

So far, DIH has awarded more than $200 million in innovation contracts. More than 80% of this investment has been with micro, small and medium sized Australian companies.
