Textron Systems Australia has been shortlisted to tender for the LAND 129 Phase 3 (L129-3) and SEA 129 Phase 5 (S-129-5) programs and is proposing the Aerosonde Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) to meet the requirements for both. To meet L129-3 and S-129-5, Textron Systems Australia is committed to expanding its local supply chain to manufacture additional system elements.

The capabilities that Textron is seeking include the supply and life support of include:

  • launch and recovery systems
  • ground support equipment
  • payloads
  • systems integration
  • training services

What is Project LAND 129 Phase 3?


L129-3 will replace and enhance the existing Shadow 200 Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (TUAS) operated by the Australian Army. This project will improve the Australian Army’s existing capabilities by positioning the Army to take advantage of the TUAS air vehicle and sensor technological enhancements.

UAS are vital components of the Australian Army’s surveillance and reconnaissance capability.

What is Project SEA 129 Phase 5


S129-5 will introduce the Maritime Tactical Unmanned Air System (MTUAS) into service. The MTUAS will operate from both the future offshore patrol vessel (OPV) and Hunter-class frigates. This project will enhance the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) existing capability by equipping RAN’s future fleets with UAS capabilities.
