The Business Development Fund provides early stage co-investment funding to innovative Queensland businesses. The Fund invests in businesses that are looking to commercialise new research or innovative ideas, products or services.

Funding of between $125,000 and $2.5 million is available to invest in a Queensland business. The amount invested will not exceed the amount invested by the private sector co-investor. Both the co-investor and the Fund will become shareholders in the business. The Fund can exit an investment if:

  • the co-investor exits the investment, or
  • the business is merged, acquired or publicly listed
