Who is this for?

Small to medium food and agrifood businesses, or suppliers to the food and agribusiness supply chain, affected by natural catastrophe or global disease outbreaks (in 2019 or 2020).

Overview

This program provides funding to small and medium food and agrifood businesses that have been affected directly or indirectly by events of national natural catastrophe or global diseases outbreaks in 2019 or 2020. Funding is designed to support these businesses innovate to create commercial products, processes or services.

Part of the funding provided must go toward training or upskilling of staff. Activities eligible for funding include:

  • costs for trials
  • research
  • training
  • contracting consultants
  • shelf life
  • microbiological and laboratory testing
  • purchasing or leasing new capital items for innovation

The funding may only be used for business, product or service innovations, not recovery assistance.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian based business
  • have an Australian business number (ABN) or an Australian company number (ACN)
  • have been operating for a minimum of 12 months prior to the disaster or disease outbreak event affecting your business
  • be a food, beverage or agribusiness producer or a supplier to the food and agribusiness supply chain
  • have been negatively affected by events of national natural catastrophe or global disease outbreaks in 2019 or 2020
  • have a 2018 turnover less than $20 million
