The Drought Assistance Fund provides primary producers with interest free loans to help them with the costs of implementing systems and practices that enhance the sustainability of their farm.

Overview
Drought Assistance Fund provides NSW farmers with interest free loans to help them implement systems and management practices to increase the sustainability of their farm business.
The loan can be used for:
- transport of livestock, fodder and / or water
- improving water and fodder infrastructure
- desilting dams
- collection and banking of genetic material of livestock
Interest free loans of up to $50,000 are available. The loan term is two years repayment free and then up to five years of principal only repayments. The loan must be repaid within seven years.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible you must demonstrate that:
- you are the owner and operator of a farm business in NSW
- the business operates as a sole trader, partnership or private company and trades in agricultural products
- the business is registered with the ATO as a primary producer and has an ABN
- the business is being negatively impacted by drought conditions
- you earn more than 50% of your gross income from the farm business under normal seasonal conditions
- you do not have gross off-farm assets exceeding $5 million
