Farm Forestry Assist provides private landowners in WA with free, high-quality radiata or pinaster pine seedlings to establish a new pine plantation.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a private landowner in Western Australia, whose land is located within a Softwood Industry Hub as outlined in the Softwood Industry Strategy

Your proposed plantation must:

  • be between 20ha (minimum) - 50ha (maximum) in size
  • be within the >600mm annual rainfall zone
  • be within the softwood industry zone for commercial harvesting
  • have well drained soils with a minimum depth of 2.5m (not saline)
  • meet the guidelines for softwood establishment
  • meet local government planning obligations in relation to fire protection and firebreak establishment and maintenance
  • be established during the winter 2019 planting season
