Northern Territory not-for-profit and community organisations and local businesses.

Overview

As part of the Northern Territory government's COVID-19 recovery package, grants will be provided to not-for-profit and community organisations to engage local businesses to do repairs, renovations and upgrades to their property and facilities (permanent physical improvements to land and/or buildings).

Solar power installation projects are not eligible.

The first $50,000 will be paid as a grant with no co-contribution required. For renovations exceeding $50,000, matched funding will be provided on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to a maximum of $100,000 total.

Staff from both the contractor and the not-for-profit organisation are required to practice social distancing during the planning for and delivery of the improvement works. Organisations that support vulnerable people will also need to identify additional health and safety measures.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To apply for the grant, you must be:

  • a not-for-profit and community organisations
  • operating in the Northern Territory (NT)

For local businesses doing the work

Local businesses looking to do the work must register online at Jobs, Rescue and Recovery from Monday, 30 March 2020, so they can be listed on the approved business and tradespeople list for those receiving the funding to select from.

To be eligible, your business must:

  • be a NT enterprise
  • be a legal entity and hold a valid Australian business number (ABN) as of the date the program is open
  • be operating in the NT in either owned or leased premises
  • have a significant permanent presence in the NT
  • employ NT residents (this can be you if you are a sole trader)
