Overview

The National On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate provides drought affected livestock farmers with a rebate to help them with the costs of purchasing, installing and upgrading on-farm water infrastructure.

The aim of the scheme is to improve farm resilience to drought by:

  • addressing animal welfare needs during drought
  • assisting primary producers to be more resilient for future droughts
  • assisting primary producers to be more productive through the installation of new water infrastructure
  • assisting in mitigating the degradation of natural watering points

The rebate applies to the purchase and installation of emergency water infrastructure for livestock, including:

  • pipes
  • tanks and troughs associated with stock watering
  • water pumps
  • de-silting works of existing dams
  • drilling new stock water bores and associated power supply eg generators

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an ACT rural leaseholder
  • own farm stock in the ACT (cattle, sheep, horses, goats) that will benefit from the installation of additional water infrastructure
  • install stock water infrastructure for which the rebate is being sought on a rural property in the ACT
