Changes to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting is creating opportunities and risks for farm businesses. Carbon farming practices can help farmers reduce GHG emissions and store more carbon on farms without compromising production or profit, and enable low-carbon farmers to prosper in a low-carbon economy.

Local farmer Johnny Gardner has been researching and applying practices to reduce GHG emissions on his farm. In 2020, as a Nuffield Scholar, he studied ways to reduce GHG in prime lamb production and now applies these on his farm. Johnny will provide insights into practical actions he has taken to reduce GHG emission in his business.

As a result of this workshop, attending farmers will:

  • learn how global markets are moving to a low carbon economy
  • understand how GHG reporting can impact their supply chains
  • identify critical GHG sources in their farm business
  • learn practical, carbon farming actions that will help their business prosper.
