ACT Primary Producer Grant

The ACT Primary Producer Grant provides funding to primary producers impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires to help them with the costs of immediate clean-up and repairs.

Funding of up to $75,000.

Who is this for?

ACT primary producers impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires.


Funding is available to cover the costs of clean-up, reinstatement activities and emergency measures to help with immediate recovery.

Examples of eligible costs include:

  • hiring, leasing or purchase of equipment and/or materials to undertake clean-up
  • additional labour costs (above and beyond day-to-day staffing expenses)
  • disposing of damaged goods and injured or dead livestock
  • repairing and replacing fencing and horticultural netting
  • repairing a building or repairing or replacing fittings in a building
  • repairing essential plant and equipment
  • purchase of fodder, grain, and feeds for livestock and poultry, and/or stock agistment, and associated transport costs
  • purchase or hire/lease costs for equipment essential to the immediate resumption of the business (e.g. energy equipment such as generators and solar panels for non-residential purposes)
  • replacement of essential water used for firefighting purposes (not covered by other assistance)

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a primary producer and have suffered direct damage from a bushfire disaster in 2019/20
  • have a primary production enterprise located in the defined area for the eligible disaster that has suffered direct damage as a result of the eligible disaster
  • earn more than 50% of your income from primary production and/or production of goods from your produce (e.g. wine)
  • spend part of your labour on primary production
  • hold an Australian business number (ABN) and have held that ABN at the time of the disaster
  • have been carrying on your business at the time of the fires
  • intend to re-establish the primary production enterprise
