Bushfire Recovery Grants for Apple Producers SA

These grants provide apple growers impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires with matched funding to help them re-establish or repair damaged apple orchards.

Matched funding of up to $120,000 per hectare of apple orchard.

Who is this for?

South Australian apple growers.


Funding is available to assist apple growers, whose orchards were damaged by the 2019-20 bushfires, with the re-establishment or repair of their apple orchards.

Eligible activities include:

  • replacement of apple trees of any variety
  • repair or replacement of damaged irrigation infrastructure
  • repair or replacement of damaged poles, trellises and netting
  • costs directly associated with clean-up of damaged infrastructure and other site preparation

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must meet the following conditions:

  • be an apple grower who is a primary producer
  • be a property owner, share-farmer or lessee of an apple farm
  • hold an Australian business number (ABN) that was active at the time of the eligible disaster
  • your property must be located within the following council areas: Adelaide Hills, Coorong, Kangaroo Island, Kingston, Mid Murray, Mount Barker, Murray Bridge, Southern Mallee District or Yorke Peninsula
  • have had apple orchards that suffered direct damage by bushfires since August 2019
  • have beenĀ in active production immediately prior to the fires
  • be able to match the funding sought, dollar for dollar (including cash, in-kind, loans or costs already expended on eligible activities)
