COVID-19 Hardship Payment ACT

This program provides financial support for ACT workers that miss work as a result of complying with public health orders and guidelines.

Who is this for?

ACT workers and self-employed individuals.


This payment is available if you are unable to work due to:

  • having to isolate due to awaiting your COVID-19 test result
  • being a carer or guardian for someone who needed to isolate following their test on or after 15 October 2021
  • having to quarantine and test on or after 15 October 2021 as a casual contact.

This payment is available to everyone in the labour force who meet the eligibility criteria, including casual, part-time, full-time workers and self-employed individuals.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident of the ACT
  • not be a dependant
  • not be receiving any income as a result of not being able to work
  • have exhausted paid sick leave entitlements, including any special pandemic leave or have no entitlement to such leave
  • have less than $5,000 in savings
  • not be receiving Australian Government income support (Centrelink).
