Circular Economy Innovations Grants provide startups, small businesses, small social enterprises and small to medium food businesses with funding to help them reduce their waste production.

City of Melbourne startups, small businesses, small social enterprises and small to medium food businesses.

Overview

There are 3 streams of funding available:

Stream 1 – funding of up to $2500

  • open to small non-food businesses, small non-food social enterprises, startups and small to medium food businesses
  • offers circular economy focused skills development, including mentorship sessions and optional impact reporting courses that will enable organisations to measure the impact of their projects on the circular economy

Stream 2 – funding of up to $5000

  • open to small non-food businesses, small non-food social enterprises and startups
  • offers funding for ideas development activities such as product research, piloting, prototype development and scale-up activities

Stream 3 – funding of up to $5000

  • open to small to medium food businesses
  • funding to implement projects that will reduce the volume of organic waste created and divert unavoidable organic waste away from landfill

What are the eligibility criteria?

Applicants must either:

  • be a small social enterprise with 20 or fewer workers, or
  • be a small business with 20 or fewer workers, or
  • identify as a startup (including social enterprise startups) with 20 or fewer workers, or
  • be a small to medium-sized food business with 199 or fewer workers

Applicants must also be either located within the City of Melbourne municipality or be planning to relocate there in the next 3 months and able to provide evidence of relocation.
