The Electric Vehicle ChargeSmart Grants Program provides Tasmanian businesses with funding to install electric vehicle chargers for public use.

What you get?

Funding of up to $50,000.

Who is this for?

Tasmanian businesses, not-for-profits and other organisations.


Funding is available to support the installation of fast and destination charging stations in regional Tasmanian locations and key tourism destinations not currently well serviced with charging infrastructure.

There are 2 streams of funding:

  • grants of up to $2,500 for permanently-wired Alternating Current (AC) electric vehicle destination charging stations
  • grants of up to $50,000 for permanently-wired Direct Current (DC) electric vehicle fast charging stations.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must be located in Tasmania and be one of the following entity types:

  • local government agencies and bodies
  • not-for-profit incorporated organisations
  • not-for-profit organisations or community groups that are not incorporated, if sponsored by an incorporated organisation
  • for-profit incorporated organisations
  • businesses with an Australian business number (ABN)
  • Tasmanian Government agencies, Government business enterprises and state-owned companies.
