This program provides animal exhibitors with funding to help them maintain animal welfare standards during COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

Funding of up to $15,000.

Who is this for?

Victorian animal exhibitors.


Funding is available to support animal exhibitors in ongoing costs to cover the welfare of their animals, including:

  • food for exhibited animals
  • veterinary care and animal care services for exhibited animals
  • operational expenses (other than existing staff wages) incurred as a direct result of maintaining animal welfare standards for exhibited animals

There are 2 streams of funding:

  • Stream 1 - assistance to licensed or permitted animal exhibitor businesses of up to $15,000 per business
  • Stream 2 - assistance to animal exhibitor businesses not requiring a permit or licence to exhibit animals of up to $1,000 per business

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible you must:

  • have an Australian business number (ABN)
  • derive income from the exhibition, display, and/or demonstration of animals
  • care for live animals and was doing so as at 31 March 2020
  • operate in Victoria and be applying for assistance for animals residing in Victoria at the date of application
  • have been negatively impacted by restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), resulting in a reduced capacity to maintain appropriate animal welfare
  • be compliant with all relevant animal welfare legislation and Victorian Government licence and permit conditions for or in connection with the exhibition of animals
