This program provides funding to owners or lessees of heritage places to help them develop tourism experiences.

What do you get?

Funding of up to $50,000.

Who is this for?

Owners or lessees of South Australian heritage places and areas.


Funding is available to support projects that enable the activation and use of State or Local Heritage Places or places within State Heritage areas, for tourism purposes.

The types of projects that may be eligible for funding include, but are not limited to:

  • facade and external improvements
  • upgrades and adaptive works to enable alternative uses or to address visitor safety, such as installation of fire doors required for accommodation
  • additions and renovations, such as bathrooms and kitchens
  • fit out of a retail space that forms a part of the visitor experience/attraction e.g. farm/cellar door
  • interpretation projects that enhance visitor engagement with heritage values and stories.

What are the eligibility criteria?

Applications will be accepted from:

  • owners or lessees of a State or Local Heritage place listed in the South Australian Heritage Places Database
  • owners or lessees of businesses or properties operating or seeking to operate in a State Heritage Area listed in the South Australian Heritage Places Database
  • licensees/lessees of State Government Owned Heritage Places listed in the South Australian Heritage Places Database.

Applicants must also:

  • be a legal entity
  • have an Australian business number (ABN).

The new or enhanced product or tourism experience must, or will need to be, registered on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) when completed.
