Overview

In preparation for the 2022-23 River Murray flood event, it is acknowledged that some businesses are investing in the remediation of existing, or construction of new privately owned levee embankments to protect their assets.

The River Murray Privately Owned Levee Embankments Remediation and Construction Grants are being provided to assist businesses in funding the remediation of existing or construction of new levee embankments on a 50:50 cost share arrangement up to $50,000 per business.

Check if you can apply

To be eligible, businesses must:

  • hold an Australian business number (ABN)
  • demonstrate the assets at risk are located within the mapping zone at 200GL/day (flow at the SA border)
  • demonstrate through engineering design that the remediated or newly constructed levee embankment will prevent inundation during a minimum 200 GL/day (flow at the SA border) flood
  • ensure that identified levee works are required for protection of business assets or infrastructure
  • provide a technical specification for remediation or construction of levees that has been developed by an appropriately qualified engineer
  • ensure that construction works are compliant with the technical specification for remediation or construction of levees that has been developed for this purpose.
