Drought affected farm businesses in the Millewa region of East Gippsland and Wellington, Victoria.
Overview
On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme is available to drought affected farm businesses in East Gippsland and Wellington Local Government Areas. The rebate can be used to invest in on-farm water infrastructure that addresses the needs of grazing livestock or assists in maintaining existing permanent horticultural plantings.
Eligible water infrastructure for grazing livestock, includes:
- purchase and installation of pipes, tanks, troughs and water pumps
- desilting works of existing dams
- drilling new stock water bores and associated power supply e.g. generators
- material or equipment necessary to install infrastructure (excluding the purchase of machinery)
- any freight component to purchase and install the equipment
- professional installation costs to install infrastructure.
Eligible water infrastructure for permanent horticultural planting includes:
- drilling of new groundwater bores
- desilting dams.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible, you must:
- be a property owner, share-farmer or lessee undertaking grazing livestock production or permanent horticulture
- be registered as a primary producer with the Australian Tax Office with a current Australian business number (ABN)
- be registered for goods and services tax (GST)
- own a property located in an eligible Local Government Area
- earn more than 50% of your gross income from your farm business under normal seasonal circumstances, or
- have commenced your farm business after 1 July 2017 and derive 50% of your gross income from the farm business within 3 years of the date of applying.
