Overview
Free, fast-tracked, temporary outdoor dining permits are available to provide hospitality venues with more options to trade safely.
The temporary extended outdoor dining permit will allow eligible hospitality venues to:
- expand onto footpaths
- take over on-street car parking space immediately outside their business
- join with neighbouring businesses to take over sections of on-street car parking, footpaths and (in some cases) street space
- join with neighbouring businesses to expand into a laneway adjacent to their business
What are the eligibility criteria?
The following businesses are eligible to apply:
- hospitality businesses that already have an outdoor dining permit can apply for an amendment to their current permit so they can extend their dining space
- hospitality venues that currently don’t trade outdoors can apply to do so
- neighbouring hospitality businesses could apply to work together on an outdoor solution that suits their unique part of the city
Applicants must also:
- be a registered hospitality venue within the City of Melbourne
- have a COVIDSafe plan
