The Regional Tourism Attraction Loan Scheme provides businesses with loans to develop high-quality tourist attractions in regional Tasmania.

What do you get?

Loans of between $50,000 and $1 million.

Who is this for?

Sole trader, trust, partnership or private company.


This scheme will give loans to eligible businesses to undertake projects to develop high-quality tourist attractions in regional Tasmania.

Successful projects will be ones that:

  • promote visitation to regional Tasmania
  • increase length of stay and visitor spending
  • enhance the Tasmanian brand

Projects could include but are not limited to:

  • agribusinesses wishing to develop products such as cellar doors, cafes and restaurants, visitor centres or other visitor attractions
  • adventure tourism products such as walking, rafting, cycling or flights
  • visitor accommodation that increases visitation and expands upon and complements an existing operation such as a caravan park or an agribusiness
  • establishing a hospitality or retail outlet with a tourism focus that retails premium local produce or locally made goods

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • operate as sole trader, trust, partnership or private company
  • have an Australian business number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • generally have a turnover of less than $5 million in the 3 full financial years prior to applying
  • demonstrate that the project will increase visitation and spend in the region, complement nearby businesses, or promote overnight stays in the area

Projects must be undertaken outside the Hobart or Launceston CBDs and their environs.
