Funding for drought affected ACT farmers

Overview

Rural Resilience Grants provides drought affected farmers in the ACT with funding to build capacity and improve infrastructure to better manage the risks and impacts associated with drought.

Funding may be used for:

• planning assistance for managing drought, drought recovery and drought resilience measures
• fencing projects that minimise drought impact e.g. kangaroo exclusion fencing, sacrifice paddocks
• invasive plant and pest control measures
• fodder storage and water infrastructure
• water storage and distribution improvements.

Up to $5,000 is available to individual landholders for drought management and property planning. A further $10,000 is available to individual landholders for drought related on-ground works or infrastructure.

Applications may be made by individual landholders or groups of landholders. The individual landholder limits apply to combined applications from groups of landholders. For example, if three landholders apply in a combined application, each landholder can benefit to a maximum of $5,000 for property planning and $10,000 for on-ground works or infrastructure.

Purchase of fodder, water and associated transport costs will not be funded under this program.

To be eligible, you must:

• be an ACT rural landholder
• be undertaking the proposed activities in your application on an ACT rural property.
