Boosting Australian business with the latest ideas and technologies

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment is seeking your opinion on the development of a framework for intellectual property (IP) management and negotiation in higher education research commercialisation (HERC).

The aim of the framework is to better support partnerships between businesses and universities by giving business better access to current ideas and technologies, and agreed terms for managing the IP for those ideas.

This will promote mutually beneficial product development for all types of business Australia-wide.

The framework will provide standard terms and agreements for University Intellectual Property (IP).

These terms and agreements will ease conflict between university-industry collaborations and speed up decision-making on how the IP is managed.

The framework aims to better translate and commercialise university research outputs.
