Every year on 8 March we celebrate International Women’s Day.

It’s a day to highlight the incredible achievements and accomplishments of women, as well as raise awareness about discrimination and inequality.

The theme for 2023 is Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future.

The Australian business community has come a long way when it comes to equality and inclusion:

  • The number of female small business owners increased by 24% between 2006 and 2021.
  • Now more than 1 in 5 (22.3%) CEOs and business leaders are women, up from 19.4% in 2021.

But there’s still a way to go in closing the gender pay gap and seeing more women take the lead in Australian businesses.

We’re proud to bring together advice, opportunities and inspiration for Australian women in business through our network of expert advisers, and through a range of specialist grant opportunities.

There are also great resources available to offer support to women in business – like the Australian Resources Directory for Women Entrepreneurs.

The Australian Resource Directory for Women Entrepreneurs

The Australian Government has partnered with the Women in STEM Ambassador to provide the Australian Resource Directory for Women Entrepreneurs: an amazing tool to help you find sources of funding, meet mentors, grow your network and much more.
