Overview
Disaster Recovery Payment (DRP) is a one-off, non-means tested payment that is available to assist individuals who have been adversely affected by a major disaster either in Australia or overseas.
People are considered adversely affected if, as a direct result of the disaster, they:
- are seriously injured
- have an immediate family member who died or is missing
- have their principal place of residence destroyed or significantly damaged as a result of the natural disaster
- are the principal carer of a dependent child who has experienced any of the above.
Check if you can apply
To be eligible, you must:
- be at least 16 years of age
- be an Australian resident or the holder of an eligible visa
- have been adversely affected by a major disaster.
