Eligible organisations such as universities, medical research organisations, corporations and corporate Commonwealth entities that can translate medical research into health benefits and can put health care solutions into practice.
Overview
The 2022 Rapid Applied Research Translation Grant Opportunity is part of the Medical Research Future Fund and the Rapid Applied Research Translation Initiative.
This initiative is investing in research projects that encourage academic researchers and health service providers to collaborate to improve health care delivery, services and systems sustainability.
Three streams of funding are available.
- Streams 1 and 2 (Accelerator): rapid translation of research evidence into clinical practice
- Stream 3 (Targeted Call for Research): adoption of evidence-based practice into health care.
Eligible organisations can submit a maximum of one application to either Stream 1 or Stream 2 and/or Stream 3.
These streams aim to support Australian medical research and medical innovation projects that:
- use existing knowledge to support and accelerate the translation of research findings into improved health care and health interventions, that have the potential for broader applicability
- address a clearly defined gap in the implementation of best practice health care and health interventions to improve health outcomes
- involve all stakeholders relevant to the research and its translation in its conceptualisation, design and implementation, including health care consumers and providers.
For Stream 2, funding is available to eligible organisations based in rural areas (MM2-7 location according to the Modified Monash Model Locator).
This stream aims to support a medical research project that:
- prospectively evaluates all projects funded through the 2022 Rapid Applied Research Translation grant opportunity, as well as grants awarded through the previous 2020 Rapid Applied Research Translation grant opportunity
- generates knowledge that improves understanding of the factors that promote the adoption, impact and sustainability of evidence-based practice in health care.
