Soon myGovID will be changing its name to myID. It will have a new name and look – but you'll continue to use it in the same way.

When the change happens, you won't need to do anything.

You'll still be able to:

  • continue using your existing app on your smart device
  • use the same login details and have the same identity strength
  • use it to securely access services.

The change to from myGovID to myID aims to reduce the confusion between the myGovID app and myGov. It also reflects the additional ways you'll be able use your Digital ID in the future.

The new name for the Australian Government's Digital ID app reflects the community's understanding of Digital ID and demonstrates how a whole-of-government ID provider can help protect Australians from identity theft and fraud.
