The Ammaroo Phosphate Project is a two-stage development: Stage 1 involves a phosphate rock and extraction open cut mine at the Ammaroo deposit and a beneficiation and chemical plant complex built on the Ammaroo mining leases. Stage 2 will see the development of a value-added processing facility designed to produce granulated fertilisers for use within Australia and for export to targeted markets in Asia.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $3.5 billion and would create about 250 construction jobs and 375 ongoing jobs per annum.

Australia-Asia Power Link (AAPowerLink)

AAPowerLink includes three components: a 10-gigawatt solar farm array built over 12,000 hectares in the Barkly region near Tennant Creek, battery storage facilities in Darwin and Singapore and a high voltage direct current transmission line between the solar farm and the Darwin Harbour. The project would link to Singapore’s electricity grid and have the potential to significantly expand the renewable energy and battery storage industries in Australia.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $60 billion and would create about 1,750 construction jobs and 350 ongoing jobs per annum.

Australian Renewable Energy Hub (AREH)

Australian Renewable Energy Hub Pty Ltd – with bp Alternative Energy Australia Pty Ltd (‘bp Australia’) as Operator

AREH proposes the development of a green hydrogen and ammonia production facility. The Project aims to include a 26-gigawatt hybrid wind and solar power plant to produce green hydrogen and ammonia at export scale while supplying renewable power to industries in the Pilbara and Broome Region. 

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $30 billion and would create about 3,000 ongoing jobs per annum.

Broken Hill Cobalt Project

Cobalt Blue Holdings Limited

The Broken Hill Cobalt Project aims to produce high purity cobalt sulphate from a large cobalt deposit near Broken Hill, NSW, for use in the manufacture of lithium ion batteries globally. The Project also aims to produce elemental sulphur, a key ingredient in fertiliser production, to help reduce Australia’s dependence on fertiliser imports.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $0.56 billion and would create about 450 construction jobs and 410 ongoing jobs per annum.

Cape Hardy Green Hydrogen Project

The Cape Hardy Green Hydrogen Project is a proposed green hydrogen and ammonia production facility located at Cape Hardy on the eastern coast of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

The facility would generate renewable energy through a mix of wind and solar over two stages. Stage 1 would involve 1 GW electrolyser capacity and stage 2 would involve an incremental increase of 4GW in electrolyser capacity, giving a total of 5GW electrolyser capacity.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $35 billion and would create about 2,000 construction jobs and 500 ongoing jobs per annum.

Gippsland Dawn Offshore Wind Project

BlueFloat Energy Pty Ltd

The Gippsland Dawn Offshore Wind Project is proposed off the Gippsland Coast of Victoria and is forecast to contribute 2.1 gigawatts of energy to the National Electricity Market.

The Project involves the installation of up to 140 fixed offshore wind turbines, four offshore substations and associated infrastructure. The route option for the transmission line to incorporate 330 kV subsea cables and the offshore substations is currently proposed for McLoughlin’s Beach – Seaspray Coastal Reserve with an onshore landing northeast of Ninety Mile Beach Marine National Marine Park.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $10 billion and would create about 1,950 construction jobs and 300 ongoing jobs per annum.

Gonneville Critical Minerals Project

The Gonneville Critical Minerals Project proposes a critical minerals mining and processing development located on Proponent-owned farmland 70Kms northeast of Perth.

The Project is targeting platinum group elements (PGE) minerals that are critical for decarbonisation and the clean energy transformation, with growing demand for use in electric vehicles, energy storage, renewable energy technologies and green hydrogen.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $1.6 billion and would create about 1,200 construction jobs and 500 ongoing jobs per annum.

Goschen Rare Earth Mineral Sands Project

The Goschen Rare Earths Mineral Sands Project proposes an integrated critical minerals mining and processing asset in Victoria’s Loddon Mallee Region. The Project aims to develop a combination of rare earth oxide products, mixed heavy rare earth carbonate concentrates, and zirconium and titanium minerals.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $0.606 billion and would create about 250 construction jobs and 400 ongoing jobs per annum.

Hawsons Iron Project

Hawsons Iron Ltd 

The Hawsons Iron Project aims to establish a green field magnetite mine near Broken Hill, NSW, to produce high-grade magnetite concentrate for low-emissions steel manufacturing.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $1.9 billion and will create about 1,200 construction jobs and 500 ongoing jobs over the 20-year operating period.

Kalgoorlie Nickel Project

The Kalgoorlie Nickel Project proposes mining and processing ore into high quality cobalt and nickel Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate for use in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries globally. This would support the production of a range of emerging clean energy technologies, including electric vehicles. The Project is located 75 km north of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder mining centre, within the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $1.165 billion and would create about 1,500 construction jobs and 300 ongoing jobs per annum.

Murchison Green Hydrogen Project

Murchison Hydrogen Renewables Pty Ltd as trustee for the Murchison Hydrogen Renewables Project Trust

The Murchison Project proposes a green-field, power-to-ammonia project located on the Murchison House pastoral station in the mid-west region of Western Australia. The Project would use combined onshore wind and solar energy to produce green ammonia.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $15 billion and would create about 2,500 construction and 600 ongoing jobs per annum.

NiWest Nickel Cobalt Project

The NiWest Project aims to produce high purity nickel and cobalt sulphate products from large nickel-cobalt deposits located in the West Australian Nickel belt. Once operational, the project is expected to produce 90,000 tonnes of nickel sulphate and 7,000 tonnes of cobalt sulphate annually for use in the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $1.26 billion and would create about 600 construction jobs and 438 ongoing jobs per annum.

Siviour Battery Anode Materials Project

The Siviour Battery Anode Materials Project proposes an integrated graphite mine and battery anode material operation with a mine and concentrator located in South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, and a downstream purified spherical graphite manufacturing facility located in Port Adelaide. The Project would contribute to the global battery industry and electric vehicle markets.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $0.208 billion and would create about 100 construction jobs and 200 ongoing jobs per annum.

Star of the South Offshore Wind Farm

Star of the South Wind Farm Pty Ltd

The Star of the South Offshore Wind Farm Project, located off the Gippsland coast of Victoria, aims to be Australia’s first offshore wind project. When fully operational, the Project is expected to supply up to 2.2 gigawatts of renewable energy to the National Electricity Market, contributing up to 20 percent of Victoria’s electricity.

The Project comprises both offshore and onshore assets, including wind turbines, substation and platforms, a network of subsea cables, underground and overhead powerlines, and modified ports.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $8.7 billion and would create about 2,280 construction jobs and 300 ongoing jobs per annum.

Sunrise Battery Materials Complex

Sunrise Energy Metals Limited

The Sunrise Battery Materials Complex, located near Parkes in New South Wales, proposes mining nickel and cobalt along with the rare alloying metal scandium, to produce high-purity sulphates for the rapidly expanding lithium-ion battery market. At full capacity the Project is expected to produce 25,000 of nickel and 7000 tonnes of cobalt per annum as high-purity sulphates for direct supply to battery manufacturers in Asia, Europe and America.

The Project has a projected capital expenditure of $2.609 billion and would create about 1,700 construction jobs and 380 ongoing jobs per annum.

Wingellina Nickel-Cobalt Project

NiCo Resources Limited

The Wingellina Nickel-Cobalt Project will span Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. The Project proposes an integrated mining and processing facility in WA that will produce Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) from high-grade nickel-cobalt limonite.

MHP is a key raw material used to produce lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage units. MHP will be transported to port for domestic use and for export to global customers.

Once operational, the project will produce nickel and cobalt for a minimum of 42 years.

The project has a projected capital expenditure of $2.9 billion and would create about 1,500 construction jobs and 500 ongoing jobs per annum.
