The Business Centre in partnership with Port Stephens Council will be running a special 3-day workshop this April for women to support them in understanding and exploring what it takes to start a business or turn a hobby/interest into a business. 

Participants will walk away with an understanding of: 

Business structures: 

  • gain knowledge about different business structures and their implications
  • learn how to obtain an Australian business number (ABN) and understand when to register for goods and services tax (GST)
  • understand the importance of business insurance and how to choose the right coverage
  • develop a solid business model tailored to your specific business idea.

Effective marketing strategies:

  • identify and define your target audience
  • discover the most suitable social media platforms for your business and audience
  • learn about website creation, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and other digital marketing strategies to enhance your online presence.

Financial management:

  • assess the financial viability of your business idea
  • learn how to create accurate financial forecasts and manage cash flow effectively
  • understand your financial obligations as a business owner, including tax requirements and record-keeping practices.
