SA fisheries and aquaculture businesses impacted by the algal bloom.
Overview
This program aims to build resilience and create new opportunities for fisheries and aquaculture licence holders impacted by the algal bloom in SA.
Funding may be used for project-related costs, including:
- purchase of new equipment
- replacement or upgrades to existing equipment which substantially improve resilience, expand business capabilities/operations or support algal bloom clean-up and repair
- mentoring, research and development costs
- training and re-skilling existing staff
- payments to consultants (e.g. designers, engineers and technical specialists)
- algal bloom clean-up or repair of harvest area infrastructure costsĀ
- and more.
Check if you can apply
To be eligible, your business must be impacted by the algal bloom and have:
- been approved to receive/received a grant under the Algal Bloom Fisheries and Aquaculture Assistance Grant program, or
- had your licence fees waived by the Department of Primary Industries and Regions under the Algal Bloom Fee Relief Program.
Businesses must also:
- be a legal entity established in Australia
- be a SA commercial fisheries or aquaculture licence holder
- have held an active Australian business number (ABN) since 1 January 2025
- be registered for goods and services tax (GST)
- be currently operating (in any capacity)
- demonstrate minimum business turnover of $75,000 in financial year 2023-24 or 2024-25
- have an Australia-wide grouped payroll not greater than $10 million in the financial year 2024-25
- derive at least 75% of business turnover directly from commercial activities under the commercial fisheries or aquaculture licence(s).
