Overview

Funding is available for projects that aim to develop a new mRNA-based medicine for human use (either prophylactic or treatment) with a clear pathway for translation. The program is agnostic to disease targets, but candidates must use mRNA technology.

Eligible expenditure includes:

  • regulatory and intellectual property fees and charges associated with registering patents or IP
  • equipment, consumables and services required for the research activity
  • staffing costs related directly to the project.

Check if you can apply

Applicants must be one of the following entity types:

  • an incorporated company registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission
  • an incorporated association
  • education body
  • public health service
  • other incorporated entity approved by the agency.

Additionally, applicants must:

  • hold an active Australian business number (ABN)
  • have appropriate insurance policies
  • comply with any co-contribution requirements
  • spend the majority of the grant funding in Victoria
  • predominantly conduct and lead the research activities in Victoria.
