Overview

A 75% rebate is available for infrastructure activities that enhance drought management and preparedness, including costs associated with:

  • setting up or improving stock containment areas
  • the purchase and installation or upgrading of efficient water systems for irrigation
  • improving water infrastructure for livestock management
  • the adoption of technologies for improved drought management
  • the labour of an external contractor to install, and repair or replace infrastructure set out in the eligible activities.

Check if you can apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • be property owners, share farmers or lessees in the primary production industry
  • have a business registered as a primary producer with an Australian business number (ABN) that was registered as at 26 November 2024 and is registered for goods and services tax (GST)
  • have their primary production property located in South Australia
  • either earn more than 50% of their gross income from their primary production business under normal seasonal circumstances or have commenced the farming operation within the last 12 months and 50% of their gross income will be derived from their primary production business within three years to the date of their application
  • pay a minimum of 25% of the costs after any eligible rebate, excluding insurance, other government grants or concessional loans
  • have not received funding from another South Australian or Australian Government program in respect of the same activities
  • have purchased and installed new eligible drought infrastructure, or repaired or replaced existing eligible drought infrastructure on or after 26 November 2024.

The drought infrastructure in respect of your application is installed on your property and improves drought management and preparedness.
