Overview
The program offers funding support to:
- establish a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) taxi service where none exists (up to $80,000)
- replace a WAV or purchase an additional vehicle where demand cannot be met by an existing service (up to $60,000)
- modify a suitable vehicle to transport passengers who must remain seated in a wheelchair where an established WAV taxi service already exists (up to $20,000).
Check if you can apply
To be eligible, applicants must:
- hold or be willing and eligible to hold an on demand booking service (ODBS) authorisation, or provide evidence of an affiliation to an existing ODBS based in the relevant regional area
- submit a business case demonstrating the ongoing viability of the business, driver competence and previous experience (or an understanding) of WAV passenger transport services
- provide detailed costs and quotes for the purchase and/or modification of a suitable vehicle, the installation of WAV equipment and the purchase and installation of the required taxi equipment.
