Do you run a food truck?
If you sell dishes containing seafood from a mobile or fixed food truck then you must comply with the new country of origin labelling rules for seafood.

If you sell seafood dishes from your truck you will soon need to label the country of origin of this seafood. Dishes include classics like fish and chips, seafood pizza, fish tacos, seafood poke bowls and salads.
Under this new consumer law, hospitality businesses must label seafood with its origin. The method for labelling is the Australian, Imported or Mixed origin model (AIM) and comes into effect from 1 July 2026. A transition period to allow businesses time to adjust has begun.
There are some exemptions to this new labelling rule that may apply to you. These include:
- meals that are served at fundraising events
- dishes that include only non-solid forms of fish such as anchovy paste or fish sauce.
