Fee increases for business owners from 1 October 2024
Learn about the changes to some of IP Australia’s fees and the increase of the wholesale price of a .au domain name licence.
IP Australia is changing some fees
IP Australia is updating some of their fees to continue covering the costs of administering intellectual property (IP) rights and related legislation. These changes will take effect from 1 October 2024. The new fees, and changes to the amounts awarded in patents, trade marks or design rights proceedings, are the result of a 15-month review.
Domain name costs increasing
Do you have a website that ends in just .au? If you do, you may be affected by the wholesale price increase for .au domains. Websites that end in .com.au are not affected.
From Tuesday 1 October 2024, the wholesale price of a .au domain name licence will increase from $7.78 to $8.45 (ex GST) per year. The wholesale price change reflects inflation-based cost pressures to administer the .au domain.
