Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship
What do you get?
A grant between $5000 and $250,000 for projects that increase women’s and girls’ participation in STEM and entrepreneurship.
Who is this for?
You must be one of the following. An organisation incorporated in Australia, a publicly funded research organisation, a vocational education and training provider, a technical and further education institution or a not-for-profit organisation.
Overview
The Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship Program funds projects that remove barriers for girls and women in STEM and entrepreneurship. We support projects that develop girls’ and women’s:
- interest in STEM and entrepreneurship
- scientific and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills
- professional networks
- other activities that meet the program’s aims
We also provide funding to celebrate STEM role models in research, entrepreneurship and corporate leadership to inspire school-age girls.
The program aims to increase:
- awareness and participation of girls and women in STEM and entrepreneurship – from school through to universities and the research sector
- the number of women in senior leadership and decision making positions in government, research, industry and business
- participation of women in other areas of innovation, including innovative businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurial activities
Grants support projects for up to 2 years. There is no minimum project duration.

Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship grants are encouraging more girls and women to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and go on to careers that make use of their STEM knowledge and skills.
Eligibility
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible you must have an Australian business number (ABN).
You must also be one of the following:
- an organisation incorporated in Australia
- a publicly funded research organisation (PFRO)
- a government or non-government vocational education and training (VET) provider, or technical and further education (TAFE) institution
- a not-for-profit organisation
If you are a not-for-profit organisation, you will need to register or be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission prior to receiving funding.
Joint applications are acceptable, if you have a lead applicant who is eligible.
