Overview

Disaster Recovery Payment (DRP) is a one-off, non-means tested payment that is available to assist individuals who have been adversely affected by a major disaster either in Australia or overseas.

People are considered adversely affected if, as a direct result of the disaster, they:

  • are seriously injured
  • have an immediate family member who died or is missing
  • have their principal place of residence destroyed or significantly damaged as a result of the natural disaster
  • are the principal carer of a dependent child who has experienced any of the above.

Check if you can apply

To be eligible, you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be an Australian resident or the holder of an eligible visa
  • have been adversely affected by a major disaster.
