Bundaberg Macadamia Processing Pty Ltd Macadamia Cracking, Value Adding & Tourism Facility This project will create 339 direct and indirect jobs as a result of constructing and operating a macadamia cracking, value adding and tourism facility. Of these jobs 93 will be directly employed within this project on an ongoing basis. With local production set to increase by over 10,000 tonnes in the next 5 years, this project will provide an outlet for over 9,000 tonnes of nut annually for cracking & value adding and will meet the exceptional unfilled demand for Australian grown and packed macadamia retail products for the export market. Gympie Regional Council Industry Ready - taking the next step The project will provide skills and training for tourism businesses to take the next step and be involved in active promotion of the region and their business increasing domestic and international visitation. Suncoast Gold Macadamias (Aust) Ltd SGM RVS Project Suncoast Gold Macadamias (SGM) through capabilities provided by Australian robotic companies, plan to launch a brand new sorting technology to the nut industry. A Robot and Vision System (RVS) that can detect defects on the nut kernel will be an industry first. Introduction of this technology will increase factory throughput helping to increase the capabilities of SGM to competitively process the growing macadamia crop at its Gympie factory. Increasing competition from Chinese buyers has seen much product in recent years being shipped from Australia in shell. SGM are committed to continue to service the growing kernel market by competing with the Chinese markets with the best processing technology and food safety standards available. North Fresh Pty Ltd Costa Avocado Packing Facility The project will expand and modernise the existing Costa Avocado packing facility in Childers, allowing for increased capacity to pack and dispatch high value tree crops grown by Costa and its local third party growers. This expansion will enable Costa and its local third party growers to capitalise on increased yield and production volumes projected to occur over the next three to eight years. The expansion will also help promote the planting of additional avocado crops. Costa intends to plant an additional 75 hectares locally over the next two years, while third party growers have indicated expansions of over 150 hectares and a strong desire for additional growth. Nolan Meats Pty Ltd Meat Processing Expansion The Meat Processing Expansion project involves constructing facilities to enable the doubling of the current production capacity from 550 to 1100 cattle per day; including the construction of carcass chillers to store an extra 550 carcasses, and integration into the existing site facilities. New technologies will be introduced to guarantee customer specifications are met, and to increase the percentage of saleable beef from the carcass. This project will allow the full utilisation of the recently completed Distribution Centre at the same premises. Once completed, this expansion will create 200 direct full time equivalent positions which will generate a $34 million yearly boost to the local economy.
